My Core Values

Ethics and sustainability are central to my work and I am passionate about creating a world where everyone is valued and respected for who they are and where we all consider our own impact and responsibility to act as guardians to our beautiful planet.

I am also an advocate of ethical marketing practices and I have recently joined the pledge to the ethical move.

The Ethical Move logo in white on black with values in a circle outline: Honesty, Responsibility, Trust, Transparency, Integrity, Equity.

My ethical marketing pledge.

I put the person before the sale.

I respect you and your privacy. I will help you make the best choice for your needs, not mine.

I communicate inclusively, truthfully, and clearly.

I will not confuse you or hide information from you. I will help all audiences feel welcome.

I take responsibility for our part in changing the marketplace.

I recognize the need to break the cycle of consumerism. I will continuously review my sales and marketing to ensure they benefit the common good.

I count on you to hold me accountable. Please contact me on info@risakawamoto.com if you see me not honouring my pledge.

More information about the pledge can be found on theethicalmove.org.

Everything I do in my business is underlined by my core values. I believe in leading by example and being the change that I want to see in the world.

These are the core values I bring to my community, my clients/students and my work.

Core Value One

Creating a world where everyone is living their truth.

I am committed to practising Satya (truthfulness) and I am dedicated to truth and integrity in everything I do.

Satya is the second Yama of the 5 Yamas in Patanjali’s Eightfold Path and it’s a practice of being truthful to yourself and others.

In my business, I am committed to be 100% transparent and ensure my actions always align with what I say. This means I won’t be teaching my community and clients/students anything I have never tried myself or practised myself.

I also acknowledge that the tools I teach my community and my students are not my own creation. Yoga & Ayurveda originated from ancient India and have been practised over 5,000 years. I am here to teach this ancient wisdom to the world and I honour all my teachers.

For the community and students I serve, I am committed to inspire them to live their truth and be fully aligned with their true nature and their Dharma – their life purpose, instead of someone else’s version of the truth.

Core Value Two

Creating a world where all the living organisms are respected.

I am committed to practising Ahimsa (non-harming/non-violence) and I am committed to choosing to act with kindness, compassion and respect with everything I do.

Ahimsa is the first Yama of the 5 Yamas in Patanjali’s Eightfold Path.

I am committed to living a plant-based lifestyle and choosing fair trade, organic products from ethical, sustainable companies whenever I can and avoid purchasing from manufacturers and companies that utilise a child labour, unfair working conditions, animal testing and that cause environmental damage.

In my business, this means that where I can, making sure that the products or services I use in my business are ethical and committed to sustainability. Please see Sustainability to learn more.

For the community and students I serve, I am committed to inspiring and educating them to live a sustainable, plant-based lifestyle through my work.

Core Value Three

Creating a world where everyone is valued and respected.

I am committed to creating a culture that allows everyone to feel welcomed and be themselves fully and authentically, regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, social status or physical and mental ability.

In my business, this means making sure that all my content is accessible and inclusive as well as creating a diverse, inclusive team.

For the community and students I serve, I am committed to creating a diverse, inclusive community where everyone feels welcomed and supported, and serving my community with kindness, compassion and respect.

Core Value Four

Creating a world where everyone has an opportunity to access true health & happiness.

I believe that your health is your most important asset.

I also believe that true health & happiness comes from fulfilling every aspect of your life.

I approach health in a holistic way and not just through your diet or lifestyle. It’s also about living according to your inner purpose that brings abundance, happiness and joy and living a balanced and moderate life.

However, I acknowledge that not everyone has a privilege to access health care or a fulfilling job.

I am committed to creating a world where everyone has an opportunity to have true health & happiness regardless of their race, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, social status or physical and mental ability.

In my business, this means offering a scholarship to those who may not be able to afford my paid courses and services and ensuring that everyone is supported in their journey to true health.

For the community and students I serve, I am committed to continue to provide free valuable content and create a community where everyone can learn from each other.

Core Value Five

Giving back to the community.

I am committed to practising Astheya (non-stealing/generosity) and I am committed to give back to the community through offering to donate a percentage of any profits made to selected charities and not-for-profit organisations that support my core values.

Astheya is the third Yama of the 5 Yamas in Patanjali’s Eightfold Path.

By supporting my work, we are collectively giving back to the community that is doing amazing work to improve people’s lives and save the planet.

The charities and not-for-profit organisations we have collectively supported so far are listed below.

Trussell Trust – a charity that supports an extensive network of food banks, providing food for those in need.

Young Minds Trust – a charity that helps young people understand, cope with and strengthen their mental health.

The London Wildlife Trust – an organisation dedicated to protecting London’s wildlife and wild spaces, engaging London’s diverse communities through free access to our nature reserves, campaigning, volunteering and education. Their vision is a London alive with nature, where everyone can experience and enjoy wildlife.

Khalsa Aid – an international NGO with the aim to provide humanitarian aid in disaster areas and civil conflict zones around the world. They are currently supporting medical networks across India, comprising established medical organisations, facilities and NGO’s who are working on the ground to assist COVID-19 patients.
