Are You Living Intentionally?

When was the last time you truly did something intentionally? Made a conscious decision?

Most of us live all our lives based on someone else’s or society’s expectations and constraints.

We seem to have lost our curiosity to question the norm and listen to our own inner truth.

We live everyday on autopilot and we don’t actually know we are doing it or know why we do it!

What is intentional living?

Intentional living means making conscious choices based on your values and principles and taking aligned action according to your True Self.

Our modern society makes us think that having more things and doing more things is the road to success.

Also we are often pressured to make a quick decision or told to make a quick fix.

But what if we could just step back, observe and question all the information we receive on a daily basis?

What if we step back and listen to what our heart and body is telling us?

So how can we start living more intentionally?

The first step to intentional living is to get clear on your core values.

Core values are your personal ethics or ideals that guide you when making decisions in your life.

These core values should come from within (True Self), and not based on what you’ve been told throughout your life, or what society expects of you, or what you see on social media.

If you find this challenging, I recommend doing some journaling and looking back and identifying any significant decisions you made or accomplishments in the past.

Were those decisions or accomplishments intentional?

Or were you just vaguely following what other people were doing or what people told you to do?

Also have a think about any decisions you made or accomplishments that were intentional, and that you are very proud of, or made you really happy and fulfilled.

And ask yourself what it was that led you to make that decision or accomplishment.

What were your thoughts, feelings and beliefs?

You should start seeing a theme or pattern of how and when you are making intentional decisions compared to unintentional decisions that you have made on autopilot.

When looking at your intentional decisions, (ones you have made after consideration and deeper thought) can you see any theme or pattern emerge?

This could uncover some hidden values that you have, that live deep within your heart that you are not fully aware of, but are helping guide you.

Start today.

You can start living more intentionally today.

Take a moment to step back, observe and question all the information you receive on a daily basis.

And listen to what your heart and body is telling you.
